Venture Strategies is a nonprofit organization created to improve the health of low income people in resource-poor settings, by making use of local market forces around the world. For example, we are working to make needed high quality, low cost, off patent pharmaceutical products available to people not reached by government health services.

What is a Venture Strategy?

To qualify as a venture strategy, a project must have reasonable odds of achieving helpful systemic change in one or more developing countries on a significant scale in the near term, using opportunities offered by existing market structures. In doing this, a venture strategy is creating, implementing and/or expediting a selected lever on change.

Nepal registers second misoprostol product in a decisive step towards greater availability
In January the Nepali Department of Drug Administration announced it has approved the registration of a second misoprostol product for obstetric purposes. Read more

Tanzania registers life-saving drug, misoprostol, for postpartum hemorrhage
In September, the Tanzanian Food and Drug Authority officially announced registration of misoprostol for controlling postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), the life-threatening bleeding after childbirth attributed to the loss of approximately 5,250 mothers' lives annually in Tanzania. With Venture Strategies help, Tanzania is only the second country in Africa to approve this life-saving drug for PPH.  Read more

Ethiopia launches "Community level prevention of postpartum hemorrhage with misoprostol"
Venture Strategies, with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health has initiated trainings for the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) by introducing misoprostol at the community level.  Read more
